YURI ON ICE!
After a crushing defeat in the Grand Prix final, Japanese skater Yūri Katsuki, twenty-three years old, decides to take a temporary break in his career and return to his hometown of Hasetsu, Kyūshū. Upon arrival, Yuri visits her childhood friend, Yūko, on the local skating rink and perfectly imitates a high-difficulty choreography of her idol: Russian figure skating champion Victor Nikiforov. When his presentation is secretly recorded by Yūko’s daughters and the video is uploaded to the Internet, he comes to get Victor’s attention, driving him to travel to Japan to become Yuri’s coach and revive his career in figure skating .n. 1
Upon hearing this decision, Yuri Plisetsky – a 15-year-old Russian prodigy skater – travels to Hasetsu to make Victor fulfill the promise he had made, prior to the start of the series, to perform the choreography of his routine in his debut in the senior category once he won the World Youth Championship. Realizing that he completely forgot, Victor makes the two Yuri compete with each other to decide who would coach; Yuri being the winner of the challenge. 2 Yuri P. returns to Russia, and both Yuri pledge to win the gold medal in the Grand Prix.n. 3
After this event, both Yuri and Yurio (name that was given by Yuri’s sister to differentiate him from this) are dedicated to training to qualify for the Grand Prix championship and both manage to reach the final in Barcelona. At this time, the relationship between Yuri and Victor becomes closer; Yuri buys two gold rings as a symbol of gratitude, which leads Victor to comment that they are «engaged.» 4 On the eve of the final, Yuri plans to give up skating so Victor can compete again, but he rejects the idea, n. 5 and finally agree to choose their own paths when the tournament is over. 6 The tournament ends with Yurio being the winner of the gold medal and Yuri of the silver medal. Haru Kaidō visits Canada to spend his summer vacations at the house of his strict mother Haruko, who deliberately deceives his son by telling him that he is «on the verge of death» with the sole purpose of depositing in him the responsibility of caring for his recently Adopted «puppy.» That puppy is actually a small and antisocial boy named Ren, who doesn’t trust anyone and prefers to hang out with Haruko’s dogs. Unfortunately, when Haru returns to Japan, his father and stepmother die in a car accident. Haru survives, but loses his most recent memories, so he doesn’t remember last summer or Ren. Five years later (seven years in the manga), Ren arrives in Japan to live with Haru. Now it will be up to Haru to adjust to his new life with his brothers and fulfill the promise he made to Ren.
